Bio

Patrick Mahomes is an American football quarterback best known as the superstar leader of the Kansas City Chiefs and one of the most dynamic players in NFL history. Born in Tyler, Texas, Mahomes grew up in a sports family as the son of former Major League Baseball pitcher Pat Mahomes. A gifted multi-sport athlete, he excelled in football, baseball, and basketball at Whitehouse High School before choosing to pursue football at Texas Tech University.

At Texas Tech, Mahomes became one of college football’s most explosive passers. Known for his arm strength, improvisational ability, and fearless playing style, he produced huge offensive numbers in the Red Raiders’ air-raid system. In 2016, he led the nation in passing yards and total offense, establishing himself as one of the most exciting quarterback prospects in the country. His baseball background helped shape his signature off-platform throws, unusual arm angles, and ability to make plays outside the structure of a traditional pocket.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Mahomes with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. After spending most of his rookie season learning behind veteran Alex Smith, Mahomes became Kansas City’s starting quarterback in 2018 and immediately delivered one of the greatest breakout seasons in NFL history. He threw for more than 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns, winning NFL Most Valuable Player and NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

Mahomes quickly became the face of the Chiefs franchise and one of the defining athletes of his era. During the 2019 season, he led Kansas City to a victory in Super Bowl LIV, giving the Chiefs their first Super Bowl championship in 50 years and earning Super Bowl MVP honors. He later guided the team to additional Super Bowl victories in Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII, winning Super Bowl MVP in both games and cementing his reputation as one of the greatest postseason quarterbacks of all time.

His partnership with head coach Andy Reid, tight end Travis Kelce, and the Chiefs’ creative offense helped transform Kansas City into the NFL’s modern dynasty. Mahomes won his second league MVP award for the 2022 season and became the first player in the 21st century to win both NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP in the same season. Known for no-look passes, deep throws, scrambling creativity, late-game comebacks, and calm leadership under pressure, he has redefined what a modern quarterback can be.

Beyond the field, Mahomes has become a major figure in sports marketing, philanthropy, and team ownership. He launched the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation and became involved in ownership groups connected to Kansas City-area sports teams. With multiple Super Bowl titles, MVP awards, and record-setting performances still early in his career, Patrick Mahomes remains one of the most valuable and collectible names in modern football memorabilia.

Accomplishments

(2010 – 2014) Whitehouse Wildcats

Before he was lighting up professional stadiums, Mahomes was a multi-sport phenom at Whitehouse High School in Texas. He played basketball and baseball (even throwing a 16-strikeout no-hitter), but truly excelled as a senior quarterback, throwing for 50 touchdowns and earning MaxPreps Male Athlete of the Year honors.

(2014 – 2016) Texas Tech Red Raiders

Mahomes took his signature, gunslinging playstyle to Lubbock to play under Kliff Kingsbury. He put up staggering video-game numbers in Texas Tech's "Air Raid" offense, culminating in a spectacular 2016 junior season where he led the entire FBS in passing yards (5,052) and won the Sammy Baugh Trophy as the nation's top passer.

(2017 – Present) Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs traded up to draft Mahomes 10th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. After spending his rookie year learning behind Alex Smith, he took over as the starter in 2018 and immediately transformed the franchise into a modern NFL dynasty, winning multiple MVPs and Super Bowl titles.
