Justin Bieber
Bio
Justin Drew Bieber rose from a small-town Canadian childhood raised by a single mother in Stratford, Ontario, to become one of the biggest pop stars of the 21st century. Discovered accidentally via YouTube videos at age 13 by talent manager Scooter Braun, he was soon signed by Usher and L.A. Reid. His debut EP, My World (2009), and full-length My World 2.0 (2010) spawned the global smash "Baby," making him the first solo artist to have four singles enter the Top 40 before the release of a debut album. As a teenager, Bieber faced intense public scrutiny and legal struggles, but he staged a remarkable artistic comeback with the deeply personal Purpose (2015), featuring "Sorry," "Love Yourself," and "What Do You Mean?" — which earned him his first Grammy Award. Subsequent collaborations, including the Latin hit "Despacito (Remix)" with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, and the DJ collab "I'm the One" with DJ Khaled, further cemented his chart dominance. His 2021 album Justice featured the smash "Peaches." Beyond music, Bieber has launched successful clothing lines (Drew House) and married model Hailey Baldwin (now Hailey Bieber) in 2018. Despite battling Lyme disease, Ramsay Hunt syndrome (causing facial paralysis), and mental health challenges, Justin Bieber has sold over 150 million records, won two Grammy Awards, and remains a defining pop culture figure who transformed from teen idol to respected adult artist.
Accomplishments
2017 - Music: "Despacito (Remix)" with Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee
Genre: Latin Pop / Reggaeton
Co-Stars: Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee
Brief Description: Bieber hopped on the remix of the already-massive Spanish-language hit, singing in Spanish (which he learned phonetically). The song became a historic global phenomenon, tying the record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (16 weeks) and becoming the most-streamed song of all time worldwide at the time. It won four Latin Grammy Awards and introduced reggaeton to an unprecedented mainstream pop audience.
2015 - Music: Purpose Album & Grammy Win
Genre: Pop / EDM / Dance-Pop
Co-Stars: Skrillex, Diplo (production); guest vocals from Big Sean, Travi$ Scott
Brief Description: After a period of legal troubles and public backlash, Bieber reinvented himself with Purpose, a mature, electronic-infused pop album. It produced three No. 1 Hot 100 hits ("What Do You Mean?," "Sorry," "Love Yourself") — an achievement matched by few artists. The album earned him his first Grammy Award (Best Dance Recording for "Where Are Ü Now" with Jack Ü) and signaled his successful transition from troubled teen idol to respected adult artist.
2009–2010 - Music: YouTube Discovery & "Baby" Breakthrough
Genre: Teen Pop / R&B-pop
Co-Stars: Ludacris (featured verse on "Baby")
Brief Description: Discovered on YouTube at just 13 years old, Bieber became the first artist built entirely by social media and streaming. His debut single "Baby" (featuring Ludacris) became one of the most-watched and most-disliked videos in YouTube history, yet it launched him into a stratospheric level of fame. He became the first solo artist to have four singles enter the Top 40 before the release of a debut album, setting the blueprint for the modern digital-age pop star and sparking "Bieber Fever" worldwide.
