Joe Burrow
Bio
Joe Burrow is an American football quarterback best known as the franchise leader of the Cincinnati Bengals and one of the most accomplished passers of his generation. Born in Ames, Iowa, and raised in Athens, Ohio, Burrow developed into a standout quarterback at Athens High School before beginning his college career at Ohio State. After spending several seasons with the Buckeyes, he transferred to Louisiana State University, where he became one of the most celebrated players in college football history.
Burrow’s rise at LSU was extraordinary. In 2019, he led the Tigers to a perfect 15-0 season, an SEC championship, and the College Football Playoff National Championship. That season, he produced one of the greatest quarterback campaigns in NCAA history, setting major school and national passing records while winning the Heisman Trophy by the largest margin in the award’s history. He also captured several major national honors, including the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, Davey O’Brien Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Manning Award, and AP College Football Player of the Year.
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Burrow with the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, making him the centerpiece of the franchise’s rebuild. His rookie season showed immediate promise before a serious knee injury ended his year early. Burrow returned in 2021 and quickly transformed Cincinnati into a contender, leading the Bengals to an AFC Championship and an appearance in Super Bowl LVI. His poise, accuracy, toughness, and connection with former LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase helped make the Bengals one of the NFL’s most dangerous passing offenses.
Burrow has become known for his calm pocket presence, quick decision-making, elite accuracy, and confidence in high-pressure situations. Nicknamed “Joe Cool,” “Joe Brrr,” and “Joey Franchise,” he has built a reputation as one of the league’s most composed and marketable stars. In 2021, he earned NFL Comeback Player of the Year after returning from his rookie-season knee injury, and he later won the award again for the 2024 season after coming back from a wrist injury to post one of the best statistical years in Bengals history.
During the 2024 season, Burrow led the NFL in passing yards and touchdown passes while setting Cincinnati single-season franchise records in completions, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. He has also earned multiple Pro Bowl selections and established himself as one of the most valuable quarterbacks in modern football memorabilia. With a Heisman Trophy, national championship, No. 1 overall draft status, AFC title, Super Bowl appearance, and multiple comeback seasons, Joe Burrow remains one of the premier collectible names in contemporary football.
