Bio
Jayden Daniels is an American football quarterback best known for his electric dual-threat ability, Heisman Trophy-winning college career, and immediate rise as the franchise quarterback of the Washington Commanders. Born in Fontana, California, and raised in the San Bernardino area, Daniels became a standout athlete at Cajon High School, where he developed into one of the top quarterback recruits in the country. His combination of passing accuracy, speed, poise, and open-field playmaking made him one of the most exciting young quarterbacks of his generation.
Daniels began his college career at Arizona State in 2019, making an immediate impact as a true freshman starter. He quickly earned a reputation for maturity, mobility, and big-play ability, helping the Sun Devils win the Sun Bowl during his debut season. After three seasons at Arizona State, Daniels transferred to LSU, where his career reached a new level under the national spotlight of the Southeastern Conference.
In 2023, Daniels produced one of the greatest individual seasons in modern college football history. As LSU’s quarterback, he won the Heisman Trophy and became the third player in school history to earn college football’s top individual honor. He also won the Davey O’Brien Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Manning Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year, and SEC Offensive Player of the Year. That season, he led the nation in total offense, passer rating, yards per attempt, rushing yards by a quarterback, and yards per play, showcasing rare efficiency as both a passer and runner.
The Washington Commanders selected Daniels with the second overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He quickly became the team’s starting quarterback and transformed the direction of the franchise as a rookie. In his first NFL season, Daniels threw for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns while rushing for 891 yards and six scores, setting the NFL rookie quarterback rushing record. (2019 – 2021) Arizona State Sun Devils
Daniels began his college career at Arizona State, immediately winning the starting job as a true freshman under head coach Herm Edwards. He spent three seasons in Tempe, leading the Sun Devils to two bowl appearances before deciding to enter the transfer portal.
(2022 – 2023) LSU Tigers
Daniels transferred to LSU and reached legendary status over his two seasons in Baton Rouge. His time with the Tigers culminated in a historic 2023 season where he threw for 40 touchdowns and rushed for 10 more, earning him the prestigious Heisman Trophy.
(2024 – Present) Washington Commanders
The Commanders drafted Daniels with the 2nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He immediately became the face of the franchise, putting together an electric debut campaign that won him the 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award and a Pro Bowl selection.
