Bio

Caleb Williams is an American football quarterback best known as the franchise quarterback of the Chicago Bears and one of the most highly publicized young stars in modern football. Born in Washington, D.C., Williams became a standout athlete at Gonzaga College High School, where his arm talent, mobility, creativity, and confidence helped make him one of the nation’s top quarterback recruits.

Williams began his college football career at the University of Oklahoma in 2021. As a freshman, he quickly became one of the most exciting dual-threat quarterbacks in the country, flashing big-play ability as both a passer and runner. His breakout performances with the Sooners made him a national name and set the stage for his transfer to the University of Southern California.

At USC, Williams became one of the most decorated players in college football. In 2022, he delivered a historic season for the Trojans, throwing for 4,537 yards and 42 touchdowns while also adding 10 rushing touchdowns. His combination of accuracy, off-platform passing, scrambling ability, and explosive playmaking made him the centerpiece of USC’s offense and one of the sport’s biggest stars.

Williams won the 2022 Heisman Trophy, becoming USC’s eighth Heisman winner. That season, he also earned the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year, AP College Football Player of the Year, Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, and unanimous All-American honors. His 2022 campaign helped establish him as the top quarterback prospect in college football and one of the most collectible amateur-era football names of the NIL period.

After another season at USC in 2023, Williams entered the 2024 NFL Draft as the consensus top quarterback prospect. The Chicago Bears selected him with the first overall pick, making him the centerpiece of a new era for one of the NFL’s oldest franchises. His arrival in Chicago created major excitement among Bears fans and immediately made his rookie cards, autographs, jerseys, and graded cards important modern football collectibles.

As a rookie in 2024, Williams started every regular-season game for Chicago and set multiple Bears rookie passing records, including completions, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. He finished his first NFL season with 3,541 passing yards, 20 touchdown passes, and only six interceptions while also adding value as a runner. Despite the challenges of a rebuilding team, his durability, arm strength, improvisational ability, and late-season growth helped confirm his long-term franchise potential.

Williams took another major step in 2025, setting the Chicago Bears single-season franchise record with 3,942 passing yards while throwing 27 touchdowns. He helped lead the Bears to an NFC North title and a playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers, then set a Bears postseason single-game passing record with 361 yards in the Wild Card Round. His second-year growth made him one of the NFL’s most visible young quarterbacks.

In 2026, Williams became the first Chicago Bears player to appear on the cover of EA Sports’ Madden NFL video game series when he was named the Madden NFL 27 cover athlete. With a Heisman Trophy, No. 1 overall draft status, early NFL records, playoff success, and national marketing appeal, Caleb Williams remains one of the most valuable and collectible young quarterbacks in football memorabilia.
