Adele Laurie Blue Adkins went from posting demos on MySpace to becoming one of the best-selling music artists of all time, known for her powerful contralto voice and heart-wrenching ballads. She graduated from the BRIT School for Performing Arts in 2006 and signed her first record deal after a friend posted her three-song demo online. Her debut album *19* (2008) won her the Grammy for Best New Artist, but it was *21* (2011)—driven by the global smash "Someone Like You"—that catapulted her into superstardom, becoming the world's best-selling album of the 21st century.
