Bio
The Beatles—John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr—formed in Liverpool in 1960 and became the most influential and best-selling band in music history. Emerging from the skiffle and rock-and-roll craze, they honed their craft in Hamburg’s gritty clubs before Beatlemania exploded worldwide in 1963 with "Please Please Me." Their creative evolution was unprecedented: from the pop perfection of "She Loves You" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" to the folk-rock introspection of Rubber Soul and Revolver, they revolutionized studio recording with Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967). The Beatles spearheaded the British Invasion, transformed album art, music videos, and psychedelia, and delivered timeless anthems like "Hey Jude," "Let It Be," and "Come Together." Their final recorded album, Abbey Road (1969), remains a masterpiece. The group disbanded in 1970, but their solo careers—particularly Lennon’s activism, McCartney’s continued chart dominance (with Wings and beyond), Harrison’s All Things Must Pass, and Starr’s enduring charm—cemented their legacy.
